Wakerfern Food Corp. saw three C-suite executives depart last week — Chief Customer Officer Steve Henig, Chief Merchant Bryant Harris and Chief Administrative Officer Bill Mayo, the company confirmed via email.
Henig spent the entirety of his career at Wakefern, starting at the company in 1992, per his LinkedIn profile. Henig held numerous leadership roles, including director of corporate merchandising, vice president of corporate merchandising and marketing, and vice president of digital commerce and analytics. He was Wakefern’s chief customer officer for nearly five years.
Harris joined Wakefern nearly four years ago as its chief merchandising officer, according to his LinkedIn bio. Prior to Wakefern, Harris worked at Save A Lot, Sam’s Club and Walmart.
Mayo is a 29-year Wakefern veteran and served as the company’s vice president of dairy-deli/frozen food division, senior vice president of perishables and technology, and senior vice president of logistics, technology and engineering, according to his LinkedIn profile. Mayo was Wakefern’s chief administrative officer for six years.
Wakefern did not provide details on why these executives left or who will fill the now-vacant positions. The news of the departures was first reported by Food Trade News.
These top executive departures come a few months after Mike Stigers took over as the retailer-owned cooperative’s president in June. Since assuming the leadership role, Stigers also named John Janston as Wakefern’s interim chief information officer last summer, replacing Cheryl Williams, Wakefern confirmed via email.
In October, Wakefern also named a new chairman. Sean McMenamin, formerly president of McMenamin Family Markets, replaced Joseph Colalillo, who led Wakefern’s board of directors for 18 years.
