Food Lion announced Thursday that it has expanded its delivery reach in seven states, giving more customers access to the Food Lion To Go website and app.
Food Lion now provides delivery service, which is fulfilled by Instacart, to additional communities inDelaware, Kentucky, Maryland, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee and West Virginia, allowing customers in those areas to use the Food Lion To Go app or website to place orders. The grocer said it won’t charge customers a delivery fee on their first order of $35 or more.
The grocer noted that it currently offers pickup and delivery service across more than 90% of its 10-state footprint.
Online customers can link their Food Lion MVP savings loyalty card to their Food Lion To Go account, allowing them to use digital coupons, redeem rewards, view accumulated Shop & Earn rewards and see which clipped digital coupons will be applied to their order, per the press release.
Over the next five years, grocery e-commerce sales are expected to outpace in-store sales by a factor of three, according to a recent forecast from Brick Meets Click. In addition, while pickup is predicted to be the frontrunner as the most popular e-commerce shopping method, grocers are still investing in the expansion of delivery services to meet shopper demand.
