DoorDash wants to toast to more alcohol sales.
The e-commerce provider announced Tuesday it has expanded alcohol delivery from several grocers and liquor stores, including Ahold Delhaize banners.
Select Food Lion, Hannaford, Giant Food, Martin’s and Stop & Shop locations are now offering alcohol delivery through DoorDash’s marketplace. All of Stew Leonard’s Wines and Spirits locations are also doing the same, DoorDash said.
Other new retailers offering alcohol delivery through DoorDash include select Buy Rite Liquors and Big Red Liquors stores as well as the entire Spirits Unlimited chain.
The expansion comes as the company says it has seen rapid growth in alcohol delivery recently.
The total number of liquor stores available on DoorDash in the U.S. increased by more than 60% last year, Fuad Hannon, vice president of new verticals at DoorDash, said in the announcement.
“As consumers enjoy the best of their communities conveniently and safely, local merchants are growing their businesses while Dashers have more earnings opportunities,” Hannon said.
DoorDash also announced on Tuesday a suite of advertising offerings to help brands better connect with consumers looking to buy alcohol. The new ad features include partnerships with software company MikMak and retail media platform Symbiosys.AI. DoorDash has also rolled out sponsored products and brands for alcohol as well as occasion branded campaigns.
DoorDash first launched alcohol delivery in 2021 and now offers the on-demand delivery option in 32 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico. Last November, DoorDash added New Jersey to its roster of states where it delivers alcohol.
Last summer, DoorDash unveiled new safety measures it is undertaking in Massachusetts — a state with a high concentration of college students — to prevent people who are underage from ordering alcohol.
