Dive Insight:
As Amazon Fresh continues to build out its online and store-based grocery business, the retailer has joined a string of food retailers in bringing affordability to the forefront of its messaging to shoppers.
Amazon Fresh shoppers in the U.S. can now save up to 30% on goods in the meat, seafood, frozen food, dairy, beverages, snacks and pasta departments as well as on Amazon’s private label products, according to an emailed press release. Discounted products will rotate on a weekly basis.
This initiative also builds out Amazon’s Prime Savings, as members now have access to save 10% on hundreds of groceries online in addition to the 5% back Prime members can receive when shopping in-store.
“Increasing our Weekly Deals across thousands of items and expanding the reach of Prime Savings at Amazon Fresh is just one way that we’re continuing to invest in competitive pricing and savings for all of our customers – both in-store and online,” Claire Peters, Amazon Fresh’s worldwide vice president, said in a statement.
Customers can view the latest Prime Savings and weekly deals from Amazon Fresh on the grocer’s website, per the announcement.
Last month, Amazon introduced a new grocery subscription for Prime members and EBT customers. For a monthly fee, the offering includes free delivery on orders over $35 from Whole Foods Market, Amazon Fresh and grocers partnered with Amazon.
Amazon has introduced several benefits pegged to its Prime membership. Members have access to member-only deals at Whole Foods and Amazon Fresh and for individuals receiving government assistance, Amazon offers Prime for about half the price.
