Albertsons is raising a glass to more personalized wine discovery for shoppers.
The grocer’s direct-to-consumer wine shipping platform, Vine & Cellar Reserve, is using Preferabli’s AI-driven product discovery and recommendation software in wine, spirits and food, according to a Tuesday press release.
Available to Safeway, Albertsons, Vons and Pavilions customers in California, Vine & Cellar Reserve provides content, guided recommendations and a showcase for wines with similar taste characteristics. Shoppers can also get food pairing recommendations. Vine & Cellar Reserve sells wines ranging from $10 to more than $1,000 per bottle.
Preferabli’s proprietary database of hundreds of characteristics for each wine provides an AI-driven experience with a focus on individual taste preferences, the announcement noted.
“By partnering with Preferabli, we're helping customers receive personalized recommendations based on their individual preferences, learn about the wines they are considering and ultimately, find and discover new wines,” Curtis Mann, group vice president of alcohol for Albertsons and Master of Wine, said in the announcement.
The partnership between Albertsons and Preferabli comes at a time when grocers are testing and deploying AI solutions to streamline their operations and give shoppers new tools for product discovery to checkout experiences.
The announcement builds on Albertsons’ efforts to boost its alcohol sales. In September, the grocer launched Bee Lightly, the newest addition to its Own Brands wine portfolio.
